About
About Highlander Press
Highlander Press is an independent publishing house committed to producing works of lasting intellectual and cultural value. While operating as a distinct entity, it is closely connected to the Highland Institute, reflecting the Institute’s ethos of critical inquiry, collaboration, and decolonial knowledge-making.
Founded in 2017, Highlander Press has published titles spanning anthropology, philosophy, art, and politics, with particular strength in Indigenous perspectives and the highland regions of Asia. We seek to amplify voices often overlooked in mainstream publishing, fostering dialogue across borders and disciplines.
Every book is carefully edited and designed in collaboration with authors, artists, and scholars, ensuring both scholarly rigor and aesthetic quality. Beyond books, Highlander Press experiments with new forms of publishing and cultural expression, including limited editions, digital projects, and creative merchandise inspired by radical traditions in thought and design.
At the heart of Highlander Press is a simple conviction: that independent publishing matters. In an era of concentrated media and global uncertainty, we remain committed to building a sustainable, small-scale press that supports writers, readers, and communities who imagine and work toward more just futures.
